Status gizi ibu saat hamil, kunjungan posyandu, dan pola pemberian ASI sebagai faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian stunting pada balita
DOI: 10.30867/gikes.v7i2.3052Abstract
Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem among children under five years of age and is associated with maternal factors, health service utilization, and early feeding practices.
Objectives: This study examined the associations of maternal nutritional status during pregnancy, Posyandu visits, and breastfeeding patterns with stunting among children aged 6–59 months in the working area of the Cilengkrang Community Health Center, Bandung Regency.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 71 mother–child dyads selected using purposive sampling. The data included maternal BMI during pregnancy, Posyandu visits, breastfeeding patterns, and stunting status based on length-for-age and height-for-age indices. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test and multivariable logistic regression at a 95% confidence interval.
Results: Stunting was identified in 66.2% of children. Maternal nutritional status during pregnancy was associated with stunting in the bivariate analysis (p = .024). In the final model, fewer than eight Posyandu visits (OR = 20.039, 95% CI [2.860, 140.369], p = .003) and nonexclusive breastfeeding (OR = 40.170, 95% CI [8.232, 196.200], p < .001) were associated with a higher odds of stunting. Breastfeeding patterns were the dominant factors.
Conclusion: Nonexclusive breastfeeding and irregular attendance at Posyandu were strongly associated with stunting. Stunting prevention efforts should strengthen exclusive breastfeeding counseling, routine growth monitoring, and maternal nutritional monitoring during pregnancy. Keywords
